Have you heard of Dr. Emma Naluyima and her remarkable venture, ONE ACRE UNLIMITED FARM? If not, you’re in for a treat. Dr. Naluyima, a veterinary doctor based in Uganda, has been making waves in the agricultural world with her innovative integrated farm model.

At ONE ACRE UNLIMITED FARM, Dr. Naluyima demonstrates how it’s possible to generate an impressive income from just one acre of land. Yes, you read that right – 100,000 dollars per year from a single acre!

Here’s how she does it: Dr. Naluyima divides her one-acre plot into four distinct sections, each optimized for different agricultural activities.

  1. Piggery Farming: In the first section, Dr. Naluyima runs a thriving piggery with around 30 sows. These sows are incredibly productive, giving birth to 10-12 piglets per litter, twice a year. With careful management, Dr. Naluyima can yield an astonishing 600 piglets annually. Selling each pig at maturity for $100 translates to a significant income of $60,000.
  2. Poultry and Dairy Farming: Another part of her farm is dedicated to poultry and dairy cows, adding to her revenue stream through the sale of eggs, milk, and meat products.
  3. Matoke (Banana) Farming: Dr. Naluyima also grows matoke, a staple food in Uganda, contributing to food security and diversifying her farm’s offerings.
  4. Fish Farming and Vegetable Production: Completing the integrated cycle, Dr. Naluyima incorporates fish farming and vegetable production, ensuring a balanced and sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

One of the key innovations on Dr. Naluyima’s farm is the use of hydroponic fodder grown in a 20-foot container to feed her animals. This method not only ensures a steady and nutritious food supply but also minimizes the need for external inputs, making her operations more cost-effective and environmentally friendly.

Dr. Naluyima’s success story serves as an inspiration to aspiring farmers and entrepreneurs worldwide. Her ability to maximize the productivity of limited land resources while promoting sustainability and self-sufficiency is truly commendable.
